If Circuit City seems to have the D90 listed already, Best Buy can’t wait too long! Best Buy has the same specifications for D90, just like Circuit City. Time to start saving $1300, as it will be available on September 7.

Here is an interesting beginning of a guide coming up about Nikon D90

“Nikon D90. At 12 MP, and with the list of cool features I outline below, the D90 serves three purposes in the Nikon line.  It’s easy enough to use to serve as a first dSLR, and won’t overwhelm anyone who wants to move slowly into more advanced features.  And yet, those features are in there, ready for you when you’re ready for them.  It also makes a great upgrade from the D80, and works as a backup camera for those with a D300 or other more advanced Nikon body.  Other than the flexibility you get with the D300’s four Shooting banks/four Custom Setting banks, you don’t lose much by going with the D90.  I’ll know more when I can compare sensors and high ISO image quality between the D300 and D90. I expect to see the D90 sell for about $999 with the 18-55mm VR lens, which makes it only about $50 more than the current price of the D80 with that lens.  If you read on, you’ll see just what you get for that extra fifty bucks. ”

Is this the real D90, expected to be released at Photokina this year?
Real or fake? Can’t tell. I see the GPS, microphone holes, so, if the D90 label was photoshopped, what was the base camera to start with?

With Photokina just around the corner, no wonder we see so many camera rumors floating around. Next in line, the Nikon D90. We have seen some specifications  and they are not bad at all: 12 megapixels, Live View, video mode (necessitating a built-in mic), HDMI out, optional GPS. If this proves to be true, than the D90 would be a worthy successor of D80. Still looking to find out more about a possible D3x. It’ll ship in a kit with an 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G zoom lens and should hit the streets at under $1000 if it keeps with the D80’s pricing, as is expected.

Nikon has been sending out press invites for an event on September 3rd. What could they possibly want to talk about just a few weeks before Germany’s Photokina expo? It could be Nikon’s sequel to their D80, the D90. Or, it could be the 24.4-megapixel D3x that was spotted in Nikon firmware. Or, in a slight breach of etiquette, Nikon could skip the D90 and just release the D100, making the entire photography world crap itself. Because that would be a photo op.

June is shaping up to be a hot month for DSLRs. Fresh off spotting the 24.4-megapixel D3x lurking in the D3’s firmware, whispers out of Japan are that the monolith is due by the second week of June, along with the D90, an update to Nikon’s D80. Pure rumor, but Thom Hogan is symbiotically attached to Nikon equipment, and Photography Bay has a decent BS detector. And the D3x is obviously around. So let’s call it 50-50? [via Photography Bay]
