D3x Photokina Rumors Summary

Photokina 2008 is coming up in about six weeks (Sept. 23-28)! Here is a summary of the rumors laying around: the Nikon D3X - a 24MP or 38MP full frame (FX) camera that should cost around $6,000 - $10,000.

According to Digitalfreak, Nikon D3x should bring us:

  • FX 38.7 megapixels
  • based on the D3 body
  • new sensor: TIMOS (Time Interpolated Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor)
  • sensor pixel pitch: 2.59um
  • multiple cropping options (including custom)
  • same price as the D3

I wish!!!!! This is absurd. 38.7 mp will not happen. Nikon is going to compete with Canon’s 21mp. New sensor?? Maybe. Canon has tweaked theirs. Maybe Nikon wants to do something too. Same price as the D3? Whoever thought of that is speaking out of ignorance.
