Sure, you can get hung up on megapixels, ISO, and all that jazz–but who knows when your shutter’s gonna croak? Well, photographer and camera aficionado Oleg Kikin is certainly closing in on some solid numbers. His Camera Shutter Life Expectancy Database is a comprehensive collection of user-generated data revealing the number of exposures taken on a given camera and whether or not the shutter continues to operate. Feel free to add your facts and figures and keep this mother going!

This is an absolute waste of time!! I’m suprised they even bothered. It’s a good concept if you could somehow moderate it, but unfortunately YOU CAN PUT ANY NUMBER YOU WANT.. ummm ever heard of the Nikon vs Canon wars? A 5D that dies after 2 clicks or a D200 that makes it to 2,543,698 rounds. I don’t think so! (although I wish it were true being a D200 user myself!)

I think this is good at least as a quick reference.

I agree with Bevels that page is a complete waste of time, cameras that die after one shot, it’s not real or serious.
